// Curriculum Update: Week of Feb. 18 //
This week in the Orange Room, we read a book called The Presidents of The United States of America. We learned some interesting facts about some of the presidents. Did you know that James Madison was the first president to wear long pants? All the other presidents before him wore knickers. We also discussed what presidents do. The children decided that presidents should be good role models, work hard every day, and take care of everyone.

This week was extra special, because several children had the opportunity to work with their parents! We enjoyed books about snow and winter fun. We are all looking forward to having snow so we can build a snowman together like the one in The Biggest Snowman. In the meantime, we practiced lots of building on the 6th floor with the Blue Blocks.

The Orange Room children have been very excitedly sharing stories of what they did over the long weekend. Some drew pictures, some added words. All shared what they were thankful for. Some were even thankful for the last snow we had and asked for more! “During Circle” every morning, we even had our Weather Forecasters look outside to announce if any new snow was falling yet!!

// This week at HPMS //
This week we enjoyed the fall weather and we made the most out of the rainy days on the 6th floor. We also read a special book titled,
Our Peaceful Classroom. This book is so special because it was illustrated by Montessori students from around the world. After reading the book, we brainstormed ideas of how we can keep the Orange Room peaceful too! The children have been practicing using kind words with soft voices,, using gentle hands, listening to and respecting each other, and taking care of the materials. How peaceful!
