Now that our special classes have ended, this week in the Orange Room, we have been enjoying long work cycles and lots of play time too.   We have been enjoying lots of fresh air and sunshine everyday this week and are excited for our End of Year Ceremony.  Caterpillar update: We have two in their chrysalis, one still missing, and one little guy didn’t make it into it’s pupa stage. We hope to return from our long weekend to a beautiful surprise!

// Week of May 6: Curriculum Update //

What an amazing week us teachers have had! We have felt so much love and appreciation from all of your children. We received sweet cards and drawings and even back massages from the children. The children are enjoying watching the daily changes with our caterpillars, who have more than tripled in size!

// Teacher Appreciation Week //

// curriculum update: May 3 //

This week in the Orange Room, we welcomed a new friend, Zoë. The children were all very excited to meet her and have given her a warm welcome; with tours of the classroom and playground, and invitations to work and play together. Thank you to all of the families who have generously gifted our classroom with books. We have been enjoying them all week. Most exciting of all, we received a special delivery of caterpillars!

// It's April! //

This week the Kindergarten students have been creating a buzz in the classroom with enthusiasm for their projects in the upcoming  Exploration Fair. Together, all the children are learning about constellations and each day, we read a new book about stars and the patterns in the sky.  In addition to the books we have been reading, there are constellation works in each area of the classroom that have become very popular this week.

// Week of April 1 //

// Week of March 25: Curriculum Update //

This week the children entered the classroom full of excitement to use the new works that their teachers made during last week’s In-Service days. The children explored color mixing and spring themed art and Practical Life materials and Solar System and Constellation materials in the Science, Math, and Language areas.

// This week.... //

This week in the Orange Room we have been discussing the changes expected to happen in Spring while enjoying our last weeks of winter. The children have been busily working with new materials in the science and culture area of the classroom. They have been exploring parts of the earth, including global climate zones too.

Week of February 25

This week we celebrated the life of Maria Montessori.  The children learned of her hard work and determination to become a doctor and then a teacher. The children also listened to books about other Montessori classrooms in Jack Goes to Montessori  School and My Peaceful Classroom.   The children were asked, “If you met Maria Montessori, what would you tell her?”  They created thoughtful pictures and notes answering this question to display in the hallway.

Week of March 4

This week, in celebration of Dr. Seuss, we read several Dr. Seuss books. Favorites included; Hop on Pop, The Cat in the Hat, and Green Eggs and Ham. All of the silly rhymes we heard in the books inspired our children to come up with there own rhymes too. We played rhyming games during circle time and sang rhyming songs too. We have several poets and lyric writers in the making!
