Creating the future, without fear.

// Week of March 25: Curriculum Update //

The Circle Room students were extremely enthusiastic and productive after a short break from school!  The classroom teachers used the in-service days to organize supplies and to update the shelves with many new activities.

In the Sensorial Area, a mystery bag is now available to match small rings using just the child’s tactile sense. It is an exercise in coordination for the student to keep his/her eyes closed while reaching in the bag and an exercise in self-control to not peek inside!

In keeping with our practice of observing seasonal changes, the children were introduced to the forsythia shrub. They decorated a printed branch with yellow tissue paper flowers to make their own forsythia branch.  The students were excited to learn about robins and their habits as well as listen to their unique birdcall while exploring a stuffed replica of a robin, named Mr. Robin.

Laura Joffre Numeroff’s “If You GIve a Mouse a Cookie” is a favorite tale about the unceasing consequenses of a mouse who is offered a single cookie.  The children enjoy hearing the story read aloud to them in a small group and paging through the book independently while exploring small objects that correspond with the events in the story.
