// Curriculum Update, Mid-May //

May 21-23rd

What a beautiful week we had all around! From observing sunflower seed sprout and grow taller, the transformation of our caterpillars - now butterflies and there release onto the flowers in Hamilton Park and our wonderful Moving On Ceremony! Thank you all for joining in our celebration, the children practiced endlessly and was super excited that you all were there to celebrate with them and us!

From the bottom of our hearts we truly love seeing the joy, smiles and brightness the children brings out in everyone! We look forward in seeing everyone next week.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend,

The BlueRoom :)

We are so Thankful!

Huge Thank You to all for the wonderful spread for Teacher’s Appreciation WeeK and celebrating Ms. Melissa’s birthday. The cards, flowers and all was very generous, we can’t say it enough how grateful we are for everything you do.

In other news, the children are so excited to see the transformation of the very tiny caterpillars. Each day they walk into the classroom with excitement to see its growth.  We all are waiting in anticipation.  Also, we have been practicing sing songs for our upcoming End of Year Celebration... each child will be recognized....ask about the songs we have been singing in the classroom, they will be delighted to share with you.

All the best,

// Teacher Appreciation Week //

// curriculum update: late April //

What a wonderful week we had…. all has sprung so much… we missed and loved seeing everyone making their arrival so bright, happy and smiling faces …like they never left. We pushed back forward and Celebrated Earth Day, read books, had opened discussions and put some ideas we had on the hallway to share.  We had a special guest come visit on the 6th Floor (Reptile Rizzo’s) and had the opportunity to learn about some animals, their habitat, what they eat or feed on and how some felt by gently touching cautiously.

Also, a gentle reminder to please sign up for our Parent Teacher Conferences, there are still some available slot and we can accommodate if the date don’t work.  We cant wait to share your child’s growth and development… Have a wonderful weekend.

Always.

Blue Room Teachers :)

// It's April! //

We welcomed April with the warmer temperatures and have begun observing the signs of spring as we walk through the park, noticing not everything is so bare right now! We've notice the buds on the branches - some red and some green, plants flowering and blooming and hearing the birds chirping from places we can't see! We grasp every opportunity to be outdoors!

In the classroom, we introduced some new works - one of the most popular this week is the "juicing work!" There is no time for it to be sitting on the shelf....the children are more efficient with following this multi-step work which adds the challenge of following an organized activity, expanding their awareness and concentration, and it's another way to get Vitamin C!

Happy Birthday to Stella, we loved celebrating with you!

// Week of April 1 //

// Week of March 25: Curriculum Update //

Thank you to all for the support of our Professional Development days, it was so worth it, we gained so much attending the conferences and have so much to share with our community.

Big news, Congratulations to Jasmine's family on the birth of their newest baby girl and Jasmine becoming a "Big" sister too! Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Theo, who celebrated his birthday this week!

As the weather gets warmer, we look forward in spending our gross motor time outdoors! We walked outside this week, noticing the garden area with plants shooting out from the ground, the greener grass and not forgetting the buds on the trees. Some children also exclaimed, "I hear the birds chirping louder!"

We have been studying the continent of South America, if anyone would like to present their experiences, culture or any artifacts, please let us know and we can schedule a time that works for all of us. We are always open in learning from all cultures and experiences.

// This week.... //

What a great week we had! Time change, spring like weather and all the birthday’s we celebrated this week. We celebrated 100 days of school, the excitement was full blown with fun activities from coloring, counting 100 objects (legos, animals, beans, coins, etc.) and building 100 piece puzzles and replicating the 10 Short Chain.   Check out the hallways to view some of the works.

Reminder - We are closed for AMS Conference happening in Washington, DC, school will be closed on March 21st & 22nd.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

// Week of March 11 //

// What we have been up to these days... //

Week of February 25

Another wonderful week spent in our classroom and school! Hope everyone had a chance to walk along and  admire the hallways as we and other classrooms celebrated Montessori Week. The effort, strength and willingness to create replicas of our classroom materials and works were put into practice and fully shows the skills and dedication in each. We read books (“Maria Montessori and her Quiet Revolution” by Nancy Bach) in honor of Dr. Montessori, a great educator and innovator followed by an ongoing conversations and discussions.

Thank you so much to the parents who sponsored us and our partners to attend the Winter Gala on Saturday. It means a lot to us. We hope to see you all there!

Warmly,

Ms. Melissa, Ms. Justine & Ms. Karen
