Creating the future, without fear.

// Week of Sept. 24: Curriculum Update //

This week, the children explored the parts of an Apple during a circle lesson. We were introduced to the stem, skin, flesh, core and seed where we were able to see and feel each part.

We also continued our study on Land, Air, Water, with a large focus on air! We learned that air is all around us even if we cannot see it. We got to experience trapping air in water, catching it in a bag, and feeling it on our faces.

Finally, we began our specials this week! The children were introduced to their new specialist teachers and were able to enjoy their first classes of art, music, Spanish, movement/PE, as well as Writers’ Workshop and Literacy for kindergarteners!

Yellow Room children continue to practice grace and courtesy in the classroom. They are carefully walking around theirs friends’ work spaces, learning to return work to its rightful space, supporting their partners in the line, and teaching their peers how to set up their nap cots!

We’ve also spent a lot of time this week learning our days of the week song, talking about our continents, and lessons on land, air, and water!

Yellow Room children returned with beautiful smiles, eagerness to see their returning friends, and happy to jump back into their routines!  They lovingly welcomed our new students this week, helping them to adjust to their new space, find new works to do, and guide them into the classroom rules.

“We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit.”- Dr. Maria Montessori
