Creating the future, without fear.
This week Adrianna was the first Sky Room friend to present her recipe project! She also brought in a sample for us to try! Mr. Brendan told us we are going to be studying Europe this year, and we had a whole group lesson labeling the different places in Europe. Friday, the first levels had a lesson on telling time, and we learned about quotation marks, which are symbols we use in writing when someone talks.

This past week in Sky Room we had many families come to work with their child. Second levels had a lesson on common and proper nouns, and Mr. Brendan gave a whole group lesson on parts of the Earth and land and water forms. The first levels had a lesson on fractions. We also celebrated Thiago’s Birthday! We also had a whole group lesson on “show not tell”.

On Friday, we celebrated Diwali! Many Sky Room moms, and dads, came in to talk to us about Diwali and how we would spread light to the world! We also had the opportunity to estimate how many seeds were in a big pumpkin. Saamya made the closest estimation! There were over 600 seeds! First levels had a lesson on the clock. Mr. Brendan came back and showed a slide show of baby Nolan! We also had parents come in for work with your child week. The Sky Room students also had a lesson on the comma.

This week Sky Room friends learned about “visualizing” with Ms. Hannah. It means to picture what is happening in your head, especially when you are reading books without pictures! On Friday we went on a field trip to a farm, we went on a hay ride, ate donuts, drank apple juice, and we all got to pick our own pumpkins! The most special part of this week is that Mr. Brendan’s baby was born! Everyone voted on if it was a boy or a girl, and it’s a boy (Nolan George Cain)!

This week Sky Room friends and family came together to celebrate the coming of Mr. Brendan’s baby! Sky Room parents threw a surprise baby shower for Mr. Brendan! We brought in books for Mr. Brendan and we presented them to him. We also gave him advice on how to be a great dad! We also enjoyed cupcakes and lemonade!

Sky room friends had a lot of lessons, including a cultural lesson on the continents and oceans of the world. The second and third levels had a lesson on the rotations of the Earth. First levels had a lesson on syllables and the nickel. We also celebrated Arjun’s and Sia’s birthday.

Sky Room friends learned about different story elements and making predictions about different books. We also learned about the Fall Equinox on the first day of Fall! We celebrated Vihaan’s birthday and Korean Thanksgiving!

Sky room friends created and signed our own Constitution! We celebrated Mia’s birthday, and learned about the “Second Great Lesson,” planets! We also created our inspiration pages for Writer’s Workshop!
