Hi my name is Nikita! I am a keen observer, thinker, and a creator. I am curious about the world around me and I love learning. I find creative solutions to difficult problems and I don’t give up no matter how hard it is. I love helping people and it makes my day when I put a smile on someone else’s face.
Project Based Learning
Making projects in our middle school program and outside of school is an important part of learning for me. Here are two I’m most proud of, but you can see more of our project work here.
Passion Project // Electric VW Bug
Over the summer I started helping friends make a 1971 Volkswagen Bug electric. The VW Bug is one of my favorite cars of all time. We are planning to use around 4000 18650 Lithium-ion batteries.
Doing this project has helped me learn so much about how exactly cars work and what types of tools/materials to fix them. It also helped me realize that when you set out to do something and you have a goal you can actually see the progress as time goes on.
Food & Water Unit // Food Dehydrator Project
In school, we have interdisciplinary studies where we do project-based learning (PBL). One of the units was “Food and Water”. I was interested in the water content of fruits and vegetables. So I decided to build a food dehydrator. The dehydrator would remove all the water from the fruit or vegetable. I did grapes, clementines, lettuce, and mangoes. I used a heat lightbulb and tinfoil to heat up the box. The temperature went up to 165 degrees!

I have practiced becoming a better writer and researcher throughout my time in middle school. Here is some of my work.

Montessori Model UN
I have really enjoyed being a part of Montessori Model UN. Last year, I was on the Economic & Financial Affairs Committee and represented Peru on the issue of Biodiversity. Click here to read my position paper.
Hobbies & Interests
My friends & family are very important to me. My family likes to go on hikes and spend time outdoors. HPMS has helped me make lifelong friends and be part of a community I love.
