Emma
‘It turns out sometimes you have to do the wrong thing. Sometimes you have to make a big mistake to figure out how to make things right. Mistakes are painful, but they’re the only way to find out who we really are.’
-Denny Duquette
Hi, I’m Emma. I’m creative, love music and art, have a great sense of humor, and love coffee. I have been going to HPMS for my whole life, but I am looking for something more challenging academically and artistically for my 8th-grade year that will help me prepare for high school.
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
In our middle school, we have project-based learning. We have unit themes we explore by finding a question and then building a project and writing a collaborative research paper. Below are two of my projects.

Peace & Conflict Unit
In this unit, I explored how different people interpreted art, and how art could be used to communicate peace or conflict. I discovered spray paint as a new medium and created a series of paintings.
Food & Water Unit
During our food and water unit, I explored one of my favorite things— coffee! A friend was interested in tea, so we decided to explore the history of coffee and tea around the world, experiment with recipes, and create a cookbook.

WRITING
I’ve worked to improve my writing during middle school and really enjoy ELA. Here are a few pieces of my work.
BEING CREATIVE
Drawing, painting, and making jewelry and crafts are some of my favorite things to do. This gallery shows a lot of things I’ve created during my time at home in quarantine.
I have been playing the guitar and ukulele for about two years.
