‘Electric is the future, for performance and the planet.’

My name is Ellis. I am 15 years old and I’m from Hoboken, New Jersey but right now I’m lucky enough to be living in Europe to pursue my racing career. Racing is everything to me. I have loved cars since I was really little, but did not have a traditional path into racing. Instead, I started racing indoors and on my sim, and now I am a fully electric racing driver. I am helping to shape the future of the sport, the technology, and the planet.

Electric is the future, for performance & the planet.

I have loved racing and cars for as long as I can remember. In 2019, I really got serious about racing after winning a local indoor karting league. Now, I’m the first American to compete in an international electric karting series, and I’ve signed on as the very first driver in the world’s first electric junior formula series.

Racing is my passion, and everything I do and learn helps make me a better driver on and off the track. Visit my website and Instagram to learn more about me!

The world as my classroom

I attended Hamilton Park Montessori School from the 1st through 8th grade, and graduated in June 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. We decided that I would homeschool this year in order to focus on racing and learning all the things I’m passionate about. Here are some highlights of favorite projects I’ve done in the past few years, and what I’m currently focused on.

Current Curiosities…

  • How can I learn to chart economic trends for cryptocurrency? (Fall/Winter 2020)

  • How can I use Roblox in unexpected ways to develop games and a working casino? (Fall/Winter 2020)

  • How exactly do the electrical components of electric vehicles work, and how can understanding them improve my driving/car setup? (Spring/Summer 2021)

  • How is tire pressure affected by internal and external temperatures, and how can understanding this better help me on track? (Spring/Summer 2021)

What I’m reading…

I read tons of forums and blogs every day about racing, and love listening to podcasts & watching videos about everything from crypto to quantum theory. Currently I’m reading:

Creating BioDiesel

Even before sustainability was something really important to me, I was interested in the different ways that cars were fueled. For our power unit, I studied BioDiesel, and even got to make it myself! We took fry oil from a local restaurant and created our own fuel. It was pretty awesome.

Using racing to learn Math

In the 6th grade, I really struggled with fractions and just couldn’t get the hang of it. My teacher, Miss Kim, helped me take my passion for racing, and using matchbox cars, I created a scaled version of a race track that fit the scale of a traditional Matchbox car. It was a lot of fun and I finally mastered my fractions!

Travel, Hobbies & Family

Travel is an important and meaningful part of my experiences. Racing takes me to many exciting places, but my family has always loved travel and I have been fortunate enough to experience the culture, food, and people from around the world. Japan, Finland, and Nicaragua are a few of my all-time favorite spots.
